Saints 21-man squad travelling to France

St.Helens Head Coach Paul Wellens has named his 21-man squad for this Saturday's away Betfred Super League match against Catalans Dragons.

St.Helens First Team 21-man squad announcement is sponsored by St Helens Flooring.

The Saints go to Perpignan in the South of France for this Round 6 clash, with kick-off scheduled for 6:30pm local time or 5:30pm back in the UK.

Meetings between the Red V and the Dragons in recent years have been high octane, full-blooded affairs as both fight to get the better over the other.

Wellens’ men head into this match on the back of a narrow defeat to Warrington Wolves, 12-14, looking to get back to positive results just one week out from the Challenge Cup Quarter Finals also against the Wolves. Our last meeting with Catalans side was at the end of May last year, and the Saints earned a 24-12 at the Totally Wicked Stadium.

Catalans in their own home are a different prospect, and following a cagey start to the new season they are now a three-match winning run; beating Leeds at home 11-0, cruising past Championship side Featherstone 46-18, also at home in the Challenge Cup, and then last weekend earning their first away league win of the year over Castleford, 4-26.

Over 700 Saints supporters are making the trip across to France to cheer the team on!

Paul Wellens makes just one change to his squad that he named for last week with back-rower Joe Batchelor now back available for the Saints after following head injury protocols which meant he could not be selected last week. Curtis Sironen is the Saint that steps out of the squad this time.

Daryl Clark came off the field during the game against the Wolves, but Coach Wellens provided a positive update on the England hooker in his pre-match press conference.

Dayon Sambou also holds his place in the 21-man selection after a a try-scoring debut last Friday night.
