This week for the Saints

Three of our St.Helens teams are in action, with our Scholarship and Academy teams getting their new seasons started!

On Friday night the Totally Wicked Stadium is hosting a double header against Warrington with our Under 18s up first, followed by the blockbuster First Team clash in Betfred Super League. Wednesday night though, over at Blackbrook Royals ARLFC, our Under 16s Scholars begin their new campaign too.

An exciting week ahead, and all the key details you need to know about can be found below.

WEDNESDAY

Scholarship vs Wigan Warriors (H)

What a way to kick-off the 2025 Under 16s season with our youngest team taking on our local foes in a Derby Day clash at Blackbrook!

There are eight matches to be played in the Scholars’ campaign, four at home and four away. At any level, The Derby means so much and the local bragging rights will be on the line.

Our Under 16s this season will face Leigh, Warrington, Hull KR and Leeds on the road, whilst at home the Red V will start with Wigan on Wednesday night and they will then take on Bradford, Salford and Hull FC.

Future Saints stars are likely being developed within our ranks, and we wish them the very best of luck for the new season ahead!

  • Wednesday, 19th March 2025
  • Kick-off at 7pm
  • Blackbrook, St Helens, WA11 9BB
  • Match entry: Adults – £5 – Juniors (U16s) – £2
    • Please note that the cost of your entry to this fixture will go towards the Saints’ ASW Solicitors 2026 Australia Academy Tour!

FRIDAY

Academy vs Warrington Wolves (H)

The Saints’ Under 18s have their first competitive match of the new Academy Championship season taking place as a curtain raiser ahead of the Super League meeting between Saints and Warrington.

Derek Traynor’s young Saints are aiming high after three successive seasons of finishing top of the regular season table and falling just agonisingly short of winning the Academy Grand Final in back-to-back years last autumn.

Our Academy enjoyed a warm-up fixture three weeks ago against Bradford, winning the match comfortably 58-0. After a long Pre-Season and motivated to begin the new year well against a local rival, it promises to be a thrilling opening game on Friday evening.

Get yourself down to the Totally Wicked Stadium, support our young Saints and cast an eye at some future of our Club’s future stars!

  • Friday, 21st March 2025
  • Kick-off at 5:15pm – turnstiles open from 4:45pm
  • Totally Wicked Stadium, WA9 3AL

First Team vs Warrington Wolves (H)

Following the Fourth Round of the Challenge Cup over the weekend just gone, the Red V and the Wire have both booked their spots in the Quarter Finals of the Challenge Cup, and both return to league matters looking to shake off losses in Round 4.

This Friday night fixture will also serve as a celebration of the Saints’ ten Super League titles, since the inaugural season of the competition back in 1996. Special guests and representatives from some of the legendary teams will be present as part of our evening’s festivities!

Our last meeting with the Wolves was in the Super League Play-Offs, and whilst it was one of the best matches seen last season, an extra-time one-pointer by George Williams settled the game in favour of Wire. Paul Wellens’ men will be fired up to get a small slice of revenge and return to positive form in league matters.

  • Friday, 21st March 2025
  • Kick-off at 8pm
  • Totally Wicked Stadium, WA9 3AL
  • Match tickets are available online at eticketing.co.uk/saintsrlfc
