For Round 3 of 2025 Betfred Super League the Saints are taking on Wakefield Trinity on Saturday, 1st March at the DIY Kitchens Stadium and kick-off is scheduled for 2:30pm.
For the first time since 2023, the Red V face the Trin at a rejuvenated Belle Vue which is looking spectacular with The Neil Fox MBE Stand as the new main hub for teams and corporate hospitality, with other improvements around the ground too.
Following Wakefield’s relegation to the Championship they enjoyed a remarkable 2024 season under Daryl Powell, winning three trophies; the 1895 Cup, the Championship League Leaders’ Shield and winners of the Betfred Championship with a win in the Grand Final.
Now back in the big time, Trinity are out to prove they are not here to make up the numbers, they want to be competitive and based on their recruitment as well as their efforts in the opening two rounds – Wakefield is going to be a tough place to go.
Powell’s men secured an impressive opening day victory over Leeds Rhinos at AMT Headingley 12-14, a game which they largely controlled and only a late Leeds score made look closer than it truly was. In Round 2 Wakefield made their return to Super League at their home and took last year’s Grand Finalists Hull KR right to the death, losing out 12-14 this time.
The Saints head to West Yorkshire for the second time in as many weeks after an impressive 6-46 victory over Castleford Tigers last Saturday night. After facing a Salford side made up mostly of Reserves players, Paul Wellens’ Saints were hungry for a tougher challenge and came up with a strong performance.
Whilst we are still in the early stages of the league campaign, St.Helens are hungry to keep hold of the top spot in the table and extend our current competitive run of victories to four matches.
Over 1,200 Saints fans made the trip to Cas Vegas, with Trin City the next destination we hope to see plenty of our supporters in the stands in Wakefield!
