St.Helens Head Coach Paul Wellens has announced his 21-man squad for this Saturday’s away Betfred Super League fixture against Castleford Tigers.
St.Helens First Team 21-man squad announcement is sponsored by St Helens Flooring.
Kick-off for this Round 2 encounter between the Tigers and the Saints is at 8pm.
It is the first away league day of the 2025 Rugby League season, a fixture that is always exciting for our supporters, and off the back of last week’s dominant, record-setting victory over a young Salford team, the Saints players are poised and ready for a tougher challenge.
Saints head to West Yorkshire knowing to expect a fiery game with it serving as Castleford’s first home match of the season, and the first match since Danny McGuire took charge of the team as Head Coach.
Castleford will be hungry to get their first competitive win of the year in front of their own fans, and build on the terrific efforts they showed last week which almost saw them take a big scalp over last year’s Grand Finalists Hull KR. Golden Point edged the result to the Robins, but there was plenty of positives for McGuire and company to look at from Round 1.
The Red V’s last visit to The Jungle was a memorable one in May 2024, with less than fifteen minutes played the Saints were shown a red card whilst holding a slender 0-4 lead. Captain Jonny Lomax would double that, followed by Cas striking back just before half time with a try. The second forty minutes was a storm of Saints score though, nine more on the night, with no reply as Paul Wellens’ men ran riot and cruised to a 4-60 victory.
Over, 1,100 of our supporters have already got their tickets for the Railway End of The Jungle!
