Three wins from three to start 2025 Super League

Wakefield give away a high shot, but Saints lose the ball.
Off the ball tackle on Lomax, Saints will attack in the final two minutes close to the Trinty 20.
Trinity again on their right edge cut through but make an error.
Bennison almost cut through the Trinity line, but Wakefield scramble well to stop him.
Lachlan Walmsley can’t catch the final pass with the try line begging. Let off for Saints.
A reliever penalty for Wakefield gifts them a chance in our half now.
Very good kick by Welsby with Jowitt tied up in the defensive line, it bounces in the field of play and then out by the 10m line.
Percival tackled Pratt and as he does the Trinity centre tries to offload, no good. Saints ball.

What a beautiful score, the Saints shape up well on the right edge and a hit-out ball goes to Kyle and he finishes it like only he can!

Welsby and Sailor link up 20m out, but Tristan’s kick attempt for Feldt in the corner is taken by Wakefield.
Sailor takes on the line and is then held down too long in the tackle. Saints into the Trin half.
Two six-again after Trinity got the ball back deep in our half helped Wakefield attack, but Johnstone knocks on a Jowitt hit-out pass.

Wakefield firm up in defence to keep the Saints in our own half, but it is a brilliant chase off Welsby’s kick.

Tristan Sailor’s offload is a beauty and our hooker is there in support and he sprints under the sticks!

Feldt’s big carry takes us to midway, on the last Sailor kicks which we pat back into Robertson’s hands.
Harry’s pass is forward though for Delaney.
Trinity break the line and go right, but a pass off the ground comes into St Helens’ hands.
Welsby lofts one that Jowitt catches well this time and the home fullback immediately goes to ground.
Another strong defensive set, Wakefield held in their own 30m once again.
Jowitt drops a Welsby bomb backwards, good chase from our players.

Wakefield get a relieving penalty to take them into our half for the first time, it came off a knock on from Saints compounded by holding down too long in the tackle
Welsby’s kick this time is touched by a Trinity man, so they pinch 20m or so but coming out of their own half they knock on at the play of the ball.
Another solid defensive set, Wakefield pinned in their own half. Saints start 35m off our line.
Saints push up to 30m out, Welsby avoids a marker tackle to hoist a high one.

After a video ref check, the Saints have a penalty for a man being tackled off the ball.
Percival from bang in front brings a close to the first half, adding the two.

Lomax on the last kicks a grubber under the sitcks, Wakefield clear it but we’re going to the VR to check the merit of a penalty here.
Again we go close on a couple of occasions, but no third score yet.
Sironen on the last in the left corner goes for a kick, but it is poor and goes into Trinity hands.
Saints go close three times, first with Robertson, then with Welsby and a Lomax kick has to be cleared for a GLDO.

WELSBY! π¦ΈββοΈ A chaotic last couple of plays by the Saints, Percival on the edge flicks a pass out to Bennison, Jon before going in touch throws a pass in.
The ball goes off Sironen’s foot, and Welsby then grounds it!

A Wakefield man is in the ruck as we play the ball, Clark can’t get to it and a Trin man jumps on it. Unsure if the Saints challenged that call, but Wakefield will keep it.
Great D, Saints. The hosts held in their own 40m.
Solid carry out of our own 20m, Lomax goes high and Sailor makes the tackle next to the Trin try line.
Wakefield now with the territory control, a six-again and a penalty has them close to our line but Trueman knocks on.
Trinity again making it a physical battle, Walmsley pushes off one defender and goes for a mistimed pass to Wingfield but we knock on.
Sailor took on the line and got out an offload to Wingfield. Jake charges close to the Wakefield line, but sadly knocks on after shaking off a Trin man.
Wakefield challenge a call after they knock on at the play of the ball. Challenge is unsuccessful.
Feldt, Robertson and Sailor take Johnstone into touch as Trinity look to attack on their left, great defence Saints.
Wakefield do well and keep Saints in our own half, Wingfield though poked his nose through the middle at one point but got cut down.

Welsby puts up a bomb which Jowitt knocked on, Saints get an early chance close to Wakey’s line.
Good opening defence from the Saints, Wakefield held by the halfway line and Lino kicks high for Bennison and our #5 calmly caught it.
