Saintsā boss Wellens makes just one change to the squad that recorded a dominant 6-52 win over London. Tommy Makinson steps out of the team due to a plantar fascia (foot) injury that is expected to keep him out for around four to six weeks.
Fellow winger Tee Ritson steps back into the 21-man squad having served Swinton Lions on dual-registration in recent weeks.

Known for their expansive style of play, Wellens paid credit to the Red Devils who can do the tough stuff and work hard for one another and knows that they will pose a very difficult threat to his side.
Now past the halfway point of the 2024 season, the Saints boss reflected on the past few months and stated there is still improvement in the team, and that the energy around the squad at remains positive despite missing a number of players due to injuries.

Jack Smith will be the referee for Sunday’s Super League fixture, and he will be supported by Touch Judges Rich Thompson and Mark Craven, and as with all Super League fixtures in 2024 there will also be the Video Referee Chris Kendall at Rugby Leagueās remote refereeing base.
š A LOOK AT SALFORD…
2024 has been a busy season for the Red Devils and we’re only halfway through it. The off-season saw Brodie Croft and Andy Ackers both join Leeds Rhinos, two key men in the Red Devils spine and who have become stars as part of Salfordās set up.
Last season saw their squad stretched a little bit thin, with injuries hampering their form too and a push for the play-off spots saw them take the season down to the final round but narrowly missing out on the post-regular-season mix – the aim will be to back in that Old Trafford hunt in 2024.
Former Saint Matty Foster is one of their new recruits as he looks to kick on and get more consistent game time, whilst pick ups such as Nene Macdonald, Cade Cust and Joe Mellor are good pickups for the Greater Manchester outfit.
Salford have a relatively small squad and will be hoping for better luck with injuries this season, but the spirit that they have shown in recent years, plus some mid-season recruitment, continues to makes them tough opposition, and their style under Rowley is entertaining to watch too – so much much so that Hull FC made a play for him to join the Black & Whites after parting ways with Tony Smith.
Now past the halfway point of the regular season, Salford have firmly established themselves in the top six hunt for play-offs rugby. Heading into this weekās action our hosts on Sunday hold a nine wins and five losses record and sit in fifth place. One of those wins came over Saints in March, ending a 44 year wait to win away at St.Helens.
Winning their last two games, the Red Devils are on a winning run after beating a spirited London side at home, and then one of their performances of the year so far over Challenge Cup finalists Warrington taking a 0-19 lead at the Halliwell Jones Stadium in the first half, eventually running out 14-25 victors.
THREE TO WATCH
- Marc SneydĀ ā whilst they have lost key half Brodie Croft, Sneyd has proven himself to still be a key player and possesses one of the best kicking boots in the game – highlighted by a Player of the Match performance over Warrington
- Kallum Watkins ā their captain has revitalised himself since going back to the club where his RL journey began, a workhorse at back-row or centre, he’s reliable and rarely lets the team down
- Ryan BrierleyĀ ā the fullback is now vice-captain of his hometown club and is often vital to the Salford attack
