Willie Peters makes three changes to his Hull KR side following their home victory over Salford Red Devils last Thursday night.
Their star half and current Man of Steel Mikey Lewis is back for the Robins, whilst Lee Kershaw returns following a two-week loan spell at Castleford. Eribe Doro is the third KR player to step back in.
Niall Evalds, Rhyse Martin and Bill Leyland miss out this week’s fixture. Martin is sadly set for a four-month spell on the sidelines, and we wish him well with his recovery. Evalds is unavailable due to HIA protocols, like Knowles was for the Saints last weekend.

🎒 BAG CHECK
From the 2025 season, personal bags of A5 size or smaller only will be permitted in the Totally Wicked Stadium, and our stewarding staff will check your bags and conduct bag checks upon entry.
Whilst this is a change to what supporters have been used to in the past, the Club’s decision to implement these changes to entering the ground with a bag are to ensure everyone’s security and safety when attending fixtures at the home of the Saints.
With the proposed implementation of The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill legislation, there may be further updates to fans’ gameday experiences in the future, with the priority of creating a safe environment for all.
We kindly ask supporters to please remain patient and be co-operative with our staff, and we thank you for your understanding.
Bags larger than A5 will only be permitted at the discretion of St.Helens R.F.C. staff if containing essentials for babies, or medical purposes and will be subject to being searched before entry. It is advised to provide Medical Exemption Certificates or proof of eligibility for a Medical Exemption Certificate.
O’Neills branded paper bags from the Saints Superstore will be permitted entry, however they too will be subject to bag checks from our stewarding staff.
Bag-Drop Facility
A Bag-Drop area will be set up on match days at the Totally Wicked Stadium for any bags that would not be permitted entry. This will be located in the South East corner of the stadium and will be open from two hours before kick-off and will close one hour after full time.
Please note our Bag-Drop facility will cost £3 per bag, and as a cashless venue only debit or credit cards will be accepted. St.Helens R.F.C. accepts no responsibility for loss or damage of items which are left at the owners’ risk, with all bags subject to a search.

💬 COACH PREVIEW
Wellens is prepping his side to face the best of Hull KR, who reached last year’s Grand Final and like Saints have three wins out of three in the campaign so far. Knowing the Robins have the current Man of Steel or even former Saint Danny Richardson to call upon in the halves is a small example of their strength in depth.

SUPPORTER SAFETY
St.Helens R.F.C. want to ensure that everyone who comes to enjoy game days at the Totally Wicked Stadium can do so in a safe and friendly environment!
The Club would like to reiterate to supporters that it operates a zero-tolerance approach to any anti-social behaviour, at both our own home ground and when visiting other clubs’ stadiums. Misbehaviours that will not be tolerated include, but are not limited to; physical or verbal abuse, violent conduct, missile throwing, excessive alcohol misuse, and any drug misuse.
Furthermore, the use of pyrotechnics is strictly prohibited under both rugby and football ground regulations. They can cause serious injuries to those who carry them as well as fellow spectators, as well as damage to surfaces such as the playing pitch which can cost clubs thousands of pounds.
The Club during recent seasons has taken preventative actions for home fixtures, with additional stewarding and ‘sniffer’ dog patrols around the stadium. Supporters may encounter these dog patrols when approaching the stadium.
St.Helens would also like to encourage parents/guardians of children coming to the ground to ensure they are always aware of what their child is doing and where in the stadium they are at all times.
📺 TUNE IN TO WATCH LIVE
Sky Sports subscribers can watch it live on Sky Sports Action with coverage starting from 7:30pm, as can SuperLeague+ subscribers.
Onto this Saturday, and Wakefield are once again back at home with a little bit more of a turnaround ahead of facing the Red V. In front of their own fans they will be eager to secure a first home win following their return to Super League, and a first home win over Saints since April 2018.
💯 MILESTONE MAN
Should Joe Batchelor take to the field on Friday night, it would mark the back-rower’s 100th St.Helens appearance!
Our ‘Batch’ made his Saints debut back in April 2019 in a mammoth 62-16 home victory over Hull FC.
And my oh my, what he has achieved in those 100 games. Well done, Joe!

🔍 A CLOSER LOOK AT KR…
Can the Robins go one better in 2025?
Hull KR are serial contenders now after being revitalised in recent years with consistent finishes in the Play-Offs, a Challenge Cup Final and Grand Final appearance to boot. What they are now hunting though, is that first modern taste of major silverware to rubber stamp this brilliant period they are experiencing.

Willie Peters has the Robins playing an exciting style of rugby, but with a tough and robust physical pack to boot, it is a strong side that has arguably only got stronger with another big recruitment drive for this campaign.
Their headline addition is the capture of three-time NRL Premiership winner Jared Waerea-Hargreaves from powerhouse club Sydney Roosters, but add in the likes of Michael McIlorum, Tom Davies, Rhyse Martin and Danny Richardson.
It’s a competitive side that Peters has in his hands, and that’s before even mentioning the players they already had such as; Dean Hadley, Jez Litten and Elliot Minchella in the pack, or their half-back pairing of Tyrone May and the reigning Man of Steel Mikey Lewis.

Like the Saints, the Robins have won their opening four matches of the competitive season, including the Third Round of the Challenge Cup and the opening three rounds of Super League 2025. Interestingly ahead of this Round 4 clash, St.Helens and Hull KR have both faced the same opposition in the league rounds and got the victories.
Hull KR’s campaign began at home against a dogged and resilient Castleford Tigers team, with the game only settled in Golden Point extra time following a drop goal by Mikey Lewis, 19-18. Next up on the road the Robins edged past Wakefield Trinity 12-14, with the Trin putting up a fightback but a Martin penalty kick was enough to get the victory.
Last time out, Peters’ men put a poor Salford Red Devils performance to the sword at Sewell Group Craven Park, 42-0, with seven tries scored by six different scorers to maintain a perfect start to the new year.
This Friday, it is both the Red V’s and the Robins’ toughest test yet in the season, with our Saints looking to get one back over the East Hull outfit after losing to them both at home and away last year. The focus is only on moving forwards though, with Paul Wellens’ Saints wanting to maintain this good early season form, and hold onto the top spot of the league table.
Three to watch
- Mikey Lewis – he is the Man of Steel and a true game-breaker, all he needs is half a chance for a chance to create or score a try and he will go for it, and is a essential cog in the Robins attack
- Elliot Minchella – the Robins’ captain is crucial to KR’s efforts, and is their leader right in the heart of the field with his defensive work
- Jared Waerea-Hargreaves – one of Super League’s biggest signing, he has a pedigree of success, and is bound to be a handful for our defence to handle with his bulldozing efforts
