🔷🔻 AWAY KIT DEBUT

For the first time in 2025, the Saints will be wearing our new Away Kit!

Just like our Home Kit, the Saints’ iconic crest has been transformed into a futuristic holographic badge and placed in the centre of our shirts for the first time in 16 years. Our SAINTS wordmark features in the design of the navy and red kit, on the elasticated sleeves, within the Red Vee on the chest, in the gradient pattern in the lower section of the shirt, and in the side panels of the shorts too.

🪽 WINGY READY FOR BATTLE

It has been great to see ‘Wingy’ back out on the field at the start of the 2025 season, the forward has had a tough two years due to injury but made his return to action back in January after a long eight months out.

With Morgan Knowles out our #18 may feature at loose-forward, but in the past couple of weeks he has also been slotting into the hooker position as well. The #9 spot is not an unfamiliar place for ‘Wingy’ as he played there during his Saints Academy days too.

⚜ TAKING A LOOK AT TRIN…

Back in the big time and not here to just make up the numbers.

Wakefield Trinity have been rejuvenated with their new ownership from the end of 2023, sweeping all aside in the Championship in 2024 to get a treble of trophies with; the 1895 Cup, the Championship League Leaders’ Shield, and the Betfred Championship title following a Grand Final win over Toulouse Olympique.

An extensive recruitment drive has seen Daryl Powell assembled a very strong squad for their return to the Super League this year in 2025. Mike McMeeken, Tom Johnstone, Jake Trueman and Olly Russell are their headline additions, but even more in-comings has given them more squad depth.

The start of the new campaign has seen Daryl Powell’s men win one and lose one, but in both games show they are very competitive.

In Round 1 in a round full of surprises the Trin went to AMT Headingley and bested Leeds Rhinos 12-14, but in a far more impressive manner than the scoreline would suggest with the Rhinos grabbing a late score. An impressive scalp on their opening day.

Powell’s men backed that great start up by welcoming Hull KR to their revamped home, and took last year’s Grand Finalists to the death with a touchline kick late on to level proceedings. Unfortunately though for Wakefield it was missed, and the Robins edged a win but the Trin had plenty of positives to take from the game.

Onto this Saturday, and Wakefield are once again back at home with a little bit more of a turnaround ahead of facing the Red V. In front of their own fans they will be eager to secure a first home win following their return to Super League, and a first home win over Saints since April 2018.

Three to watch

  • Mike McMeeken – the Trin’s new captain knows Daryl Powell very well and following a few years in France has come back to England looking to make Wakefield’s pack very tough to beat, putting in big minutes as a prop
  • Oliver Pratt – a possible future star of the Super League, the centre is a strong ball runner and evasive too boot, making him tough to handle on an edge as was proven last week when he scored against Hull KR
  • Max Jowitt – the fullback scored a Rugby League record of 500 points last term in the Championship and has come back into Super League full of confidence and an integral man for Powell’s Wakefield team

📺 TUNE IN TO WATCH LIVE

For the second time in three weeks the Saints will be live on the BBC, with their coverage commencing at 2:25pm.
