Ahead of St.Helens' first away match of the 2025 Betfred Super League season against Castleford Tigers, our star prop joined Paul Hawksbee and Charlie Baker live on talkSPORT!
‘Big Al’ joined Hawksbee and Baker’s afternoon programme on the world’s biggest sports radio station to discuss all things Super League, reflect on our strong start to the new campaign – albeit in unique circumstances.
Last week during one of his broadcasts Paul Hawksbee revealed that he would be supporting St Helens in memory of his friend Peter, and the Club sent out a printed shirt to the talkSPORT presenter to welcome him properly as a new fan.
🏉Thank you @Saints1890 – both for the shirt and for also thinking I could play at full-back!
Here’s to a big season for the Red Vee! 👍🏼 pic.twitter.com/o9CtYvUVxc

Following last week’s brilliant start to the 2025 season, Walmsley discussed the competitive league that we should expect over the next eight months.
Openly, Alex reaffirmed that the Red V’s game against Saints was not the sort of match the team wanted but you can only play what is in front of you. However, the good news of Salford’s takeover being confirmed and the Red Devils being allowed to field a stronger side is a positive step to see.
Our #8 also talked about our 2024 season, and how the Saints will be better having blooded in a number of youngsters such as Noah Stephens, George Delaney and Harry Robertson.
