This week for the Saints

Our First Team return home for the first time since May, while our Women's and Academy teams hit the road!

See the key information for all three matches below.

FRIDAY

First Team vs Castleford Tigers (H)

The new pitch at the Totally Wicked Stadium will get its first run out this Friday evening!

Saints will be eager to bounce back after suffering a tight and narrow defeat away at Salford Red Devils last time out, 20-18. With the top of the table race very tight, the Red V will be rallying round to earn back their spot at the top of Betfred Super League.

Our visitors are showing plenty of spirit in the longer term project under Craig Lingard and have picked up a couple of morale boosting wins. However in recent weeks they have also shown some promising signs running both Wigan and Hull KR very close, losing by two and then one point respectively.

SATURDAY

Women vs Leeds Rhinos (A)

A rematch of the Challenge Cup Final at Wembley last month, the Saints head over to Headingley looking to get a third win over the Rhinos in 2024.

The Saints got a league victory at the Totally Wicked Stadium back in Round 4 of Betfred Women’s Super League in May, then two weeks later on the big stage Matty Smith’s troops put on a remarkable performance to secure a historic fourth Challenge Cup trophy in a row.

Whilst the Red V have not had a domestic fixture since the final, ten of our players played in the Lancahsire/Yorkshire Origin meeting, followed by seven of our Women’s team went over to France for the Mid-Season International, with six of them playing in a big win over the French.

As we head into the second half of the WSL season, Leeds sit on top of the table and Saints are currently in third just two points behind – however, St.Helens Women do have a game in hand, so the fight for the League Leader’s Shield looks to be highly competitive.

  • Saturday, 6th July 2024
  • Kick-off at 12:30pm
  • AMT Headingley Stadium, LS6 3BR
  • The match serves as the opener of a triple header in Leeds, with match tickets granting access to watch all three games – tickets are available online

Academy vs Hull KR (A)

There are five matches left in the regular Academy Championship season and the Saints are currently at the top of the table and look to hold their spot with Wigan level on league points, but behind on points difference.

Derek Traynor’s Saints secured a dominant 64-6 victory over Bradford Bulls at Blackbrook last time out, extending their winning run to five victories in a row.

Just days removed from the England Academy international too, the trip east to the home of the Robins will be a tough test, especially as a curtain raiser before their First Team meeting against Catalans Dragons.

Hull KR will be looking to bounce back after suffering a big away day defeat to Castleford in the last round.

  • Saturday, 6th July 2024
  • Kick-off at 3pm
  • Sewell Group Craven Park, HU9 5HE
  • The match serves as a curtain raiser, with match tickets granting access to watch Hull KR vs Catalans Dragons – tickets are available online
