Now entering his Testimonial year, Paul Wellens is known locally as ‘Mr St Helens’ and is widely regarded as one of the best full backs in the world.

Following his domination of the position in 2006 when he won the Man of Steel Award, Players’ Player of the Year, Rugby League Writers’ Player of the Year, Saints' Official Player of the Year and Saints' Supporters Player of the Year, in 2007 he became more productive scoring 24 tries in all competitions.

In 2008, he won the Lance Todd trophy for the second consecutive year for one of the most dominant full back displays ever to grace Wembley.

Paul is positionally one of the best in the business and can pop up where you least expect him to score vital tries.

Quiet, but confident, Wello will once again be looking to lead from the back in 2009.
