Minute silence to remember Don Fox at Wembley

27th Aug 2008, 4:31pm

The late 1968 Lance Todd Trophy winner Don Fox will be remembered this Saturday at Wembley with a minute’s silence ahead of the Carnegie Challenge Cup Final between Hull FC and St Helens.

Fox sadly passed away last week at the age of 72 after a glittering career in which he played more than 500 times and accumulated 1,755 points.

During a highly successful career as a professional player with Featherstone Rovers and Wakefield Trinity, Fox was widely regarded as a highly gifted and skilful player who boasted great-ball playing abilities.

He was a British Lions tourist in 1962 and was also capped for Great Britain against Australia in 1963.

Some of Fox’s old Wakefield teammates, including his brother Neil, will be at Wembley on Saturday.  They will be taking part in a parade of honour by players from the Leeds and Wakefield clubs who played in the 1968 Challenge Cup Final at Wembley, a game Don Fox won the Lance Todd Trophy in.

Saturday’s Carnegie Challenge Cup Final between Hull FC and St Helens at Wembley, kicks off at 2.30pm and is live on BBC One.
