St Helens Rugby League Football Club are delighted with the award of a Super League Franchise for the next three years.

 

The Club worked hard to put together a detailed bid and its licence award demonstrates the value the St Helens brand has to the Super League competition.

 

Saints Chief Executive, Tony Colquitt, said: “This is great news for the Club, the fans and the town of St Helens.

 

“St Helens is synonymous with Super League, having won it five times, and to continue to compete at the highest level is very important.

 

“As well as the news of the new stadium receiving the go ahead, this announcement has culminated in a fantastic few weeks for the Club."

 

He continues: “We would also like to congratulate both Celtic Crusaders and Salford City Reds on gaining Super League licences and look forward to entertaining and committed encounters with them next season.”

 

St Helens will receive full details of its licence application in due course and so cannot make any further comment until the details are analysed.
